"Every Tuesday leading up to the November 6th election, March For Our Lives is issuing a new call to action to young people across the United States. Our mission is clear: to encourage all eligible voters to elect morally just leaders on all levels of government."

Tuesday, October 2nd: Register EVERYBODY To Vote

Tuesday, October 9th: Wear Your Flag Shirt

Tuesday, October 16th: Get ART the Vote

Tuesday, October 23rd: Candidate Town Hall

Tuesday, October 30th: Chalk The Vote

Tuesday, November 6th: #WalkoutToVotein partnership with the Future Coalition

If this social media campaign has a "familiar feel," then you're probably an OFA 2008 vet. A quick reminder for those current "youth never turn out" naysayers, in 2008, young people shocked the political world, "coming out of seemingly nowhere", to help the black guy with the funny name win one of the whitest state's caucuses.

  • 18-29 year olds went on to volunteer in huge numbers across the nation. They were the lifeblood of OFA's grassroots-driven GOTV efforts.

  • The youth vote helped WIN Obama several primaries.

  • The youth vote cast the DECIDING VOTES in NC and IN for Obama's general election.

Don't rewrite history insisting youth vote always failed to show up. We Obama vets witnessed the very real difference they DID and CAN make on races IF motivated and inspired!

Now I'll be first to admit without Obama on the ballot, 18-29 year olds failed to show up in 2010 and 2014. And, that highlights the biggest challenge as youth vote often been too-reliant on inspiring candidates aka the Pied Piper or Messiah effect.

And, that's one reason I find the Parkland Kids so fascinating to watch. They aren't SCREAMING Beto or any other rock-star candidate's name, instead FIGHTING FOR, ORGANIZING FOR, and SCREAMING FOR a particular POLICY, end gun violence by voting out NRA-backed candidates and backing those who support smart, gun-safety laws.

After traveling all across the country holding registration rallies, the Parkland Kids' launched the #TurnoutTuesday campaign last week. Please do your part, and spread the word to your child, grandchild, students, etc., and post links to social media.
