At the South Carolina debate, the question was posed to Hillary Clinton:
Why is Senator Sanders beating you to 2 to 1 among younger voters?
She did not answer the question:
Look, I have the greatest respect for Senator Sanders and for his supporters and I'm going to keep working as hard as I can to reach as many people of all ages about what I will do, what the experience and the ideas that I have that I will bring to the White House and I hope to have their support when I'm the Democratic nominee.
At last night's Town Hall, the question was revisited again:
It feels like there's a lot of young people like myself who are very passionate supports of Bernie Sanders and I just don't see the same enthusiasm from younger people for you. In fact, I've heard from quite a few people my age that they think you're dishonest but I'd like to hear from you on why you feel the enthusiasm isn't there.
And again, she gave an evasive answer:
Well, I think it really depends upon who you're seeing and talking to. You know today in Oskaloosa I spent time with about 10 high school students who are enthusiastically working for me. I see young people across the state who are doing the same. But I'm totally happy to see young people involved in any way. That's what we want.
And we want to have a good primary to pick a nominee. And then we want to have everybody join together to make sure we win in November, which after all is the purpose...
Naat Aaaah! I've got ten - count 'em, TEN, high schoolers volunteering for my campaign! The problem is with those meanie Republicans who have besmirched my reputation! I worked hard for healthcare 20 years ago!
Cuomo also hinted at the same subject with his first question:
2008 we're talking about, here you are again, another election ... another nail biter... with a self-described socialist named Bernie. How did that happen?
OK Hillary, one more chance to answer the question
The other side is not talking issues, they're talking insults. So, I'm proud of the campaign we've run, and what we've put out there before the American people.
Three times now she's been asked about the Sanders surge among younger voters, and three times she avoided addressing the elephant in the room. Why don’t younger voters trust her? Why do they think she’s not authentic? Why do they think she’s just another slippery, evasive politician? Her answers are actually more revealing than they appear to be.
